About the workshop

100 Languages of Children: wire and paper

In Reggio Emilia, the metaphor of “100 languages” is used to represent the myriad of ways children express their thinking and learning. In this workshop participants will be invited to explore the characteristics of paper and wire. As Topal and Gandini (1999) said, “Each material has unique characteristics. Exploring gives children and adults a vehicle for discovering those properties. Exploring also means figuring out what a particular material can do.”(p. 28).

Participants will be guided by the facilitator as they explore. It is hoped this will be a fun and relaxing way to end the day as we learn through experiencing.
