Blue Gum Community School

Blue Gum Community School is a wonderful small school in Canberra, for 3 to 16 year olds, that continues to grow. Early Childhood Teachers and Assistants needed.

Blue Gum attracts dedicated teachers and teaching assistants who are passionate about seeing all students as competent, capable, creative, responsible, resourceful and resilient.

Our teachers work hard to create irresistible learning environments for students.

Teaching teams, in our PreSchool and Primary School, work with multi‐age classes of 20‐25 students, where students’ diversity is seen as a rich resource.

Our Middle School and High School Classes have 14 students with a core Advisor teacher.

Knowledge of emergent curriculum & social constructivist approaches to learning, is desirable. Inspiring reference points for Blue Gum teachers include the Reggio Emilia experience, Slow Schooling, Big Picture Education, Positive Psychology, Nature Education, Place‐based Education.

Previous experience supporting students’ engagement with real‐life projects, would be helpful.   Ability to meet, but also critically question, relevant Accreditation/Licensing/School Registration requirements, is essential.

Blue Gum also offers paid Internships to outstanding applicants, who are undertaking a teaching qualification at an Australian university.
