About the Exhibition

The Hundred Languages of Children Exhibition tells a story of an educational adventure, reflecting on the experiences, thoughts, theoretical research, and ethical and social ideas of many generations of children, teachers and parents from Reggio Emilia, Italy.

This internationally acclaimed Exhibition captures the documentation of children’s competencies and intellectual pursuits within language, culture and community. The Exhibition invites participants to consider a strengths based paradigm in which to ‘hear’ children’s voices and to reflect on their personal and organisational responses. The Exhibition can inspire, inform and transform education possibilities for teaching and learning with children and their educators, in collaboration with families and the wider community.

Displaying the Exhibition in the Northern Territory has been a long standing goal for REAIE, made possible with a grant from the Frank Leydon Tot-Ed Foundation Trust.

Professional Learning events

The opening of the Exhibition will coincide with the 2018 Visions of Childhood Conference, celebrating a partnership between EChO (SA), ECEA (NT) and REAIE. The Conference will be held on Thursday 11 – Friday 12 October at the Alice Springs Convention Centre. The 2 day program will provide an overview of the Reggio Emilia Educational Project, focussing on the Image of the Child as competent and capable. Further sessions will provide stories of practice that offer possibilities for educators to explore in their own contexts.
