Call for Conference Presentation Proposals for the 2021 REAIE Biennial Conference

REAIE is excited to announce their Call for Conference Presentation Proposals for the 11th REAIE Biennial Conference to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre 8 – 11 July 2021.

What does it mean to be in relationship?

As educators of young children, the concept of ‘relationship’ is understood as being integral to an intentional process of forming strong and positive connections with children, their families, colleagues and the context within which centres and schools are situated.

Acknowledging the complexity of the work undertaken with children, families and communities focused attention on Malaguzzi’s challenge of creating an education based on relationships and participation …(shaped by) networks of communication and encounters…the spirit of co-operation; individual and collective effort. (Edwards, Gandini & Forman p 45).

Reflecting on the relationship between learning and teaching in the 21st century, particularly in response to the worldwide challenges presented by COVID-19, the conference group acknowledged that education systems in today’s world as being ever more diverse and complex organisms.

Acknowledging our recent experience of working in distance modes as individuals and whole communities are asked to self- isolate: What were the relationships needed to give energy and sustenance to the work undertaken with children and families? What might be the structures required in schools to maintain desired relationships with children, families, colleagues and community? How can we, as educators of young children progress Malaguzzi’s vision, of an education system based on: connection, synergy, interaction, interdependence?

It is our great pleasure, to invite Call for Paper submissions from those working with and for children and families across all States and Territories of Australia, the Asia Pacific and beyond, representing diverse settings which have been influenced by the values and principles of the educational project of Reggio Emilia.

Submissions must be received by 30 October 2020. Successful applicants will be notified in December 2020.
