Program Description

Beginning your inquiry – How to get started

Presenter: Rebecca Duncan – Early Childhood Consultant – Association of Independent Schools of WA (AISWA)

This presentation will introduce participants to the essential elements that have been found to underpin quality inquiry pedagogies, making connections between these and the principles of the educational project of Reggio Emilia. Stories of practice captured in diverse Western Australian settings will be featured, providing illustrations of powerful cultures of inquiry that harness children’s innate attitudes of curiosity and research. These case studies highlight pedagogies that emphasise reciprocal relationships, deep learning, intellectual engagement, rigorous thinking and children’s agency. Insights will also be shared into the genesis of various inquiry-based projects, offering possibilities for embarking on your own journeys of inquiry alongside children.

Please contact the REAIE office if you paid for the previous meeting (held in February) and were unable to attend due to the storm.
