2024 RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM - CALL FOR PAPERS

An online symposium connecting theory and practice in Australian education contexts in response to the principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach®

LAUNCH DATE: SATURDAY 19 OCTOBER 2024 – ONLINE PRE-RECORDED DIALOGUE SESSIONS

Viewing access will be available for registered participants until Sunday 17 November 2024.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING SYMPOSIUM PAPERS

Submissions must be received by 24 June 2024.  

(Successful applicants will be notified by 22 July 2024) 

Please read these guidelines prior to commencing your online submission.

Incomplete submissions will not be submitted to the selection panel.

The following information must be included in all submissions 

  1. Contact information

For submissions that include more than one presenter, please nominate the group contact person for your submission. Please ensure you include the group contact’s email address and phone number. You will also be asked to complete the full name, phone number and email address of additional presenters. Please click here + at the end of the line to add additional presenter’s information. 

  1. Presenter Biography

Please include a brief paragraph (100 words) which will be included on our website for the Symposium program and social media/promotional materials. If this is a group presentation, please include a synopsis of the group.  

  1. Presenter Headshots

Please include a high-resolution headshot for inclusion in the Symposium program, website and/or promotional materials. You will be able to upload files through the online form. If you experience any difficulties, please send the files to caryn@reggioaustralia.org.au clearly marked with the name of the group contact.  

  1. Experience

A brief history of your interest in, and work with the educational project of Reggio Emilia.  

  1. Title of your presentation.
  2. Five key words/themes which your presentation aims to address. 
  3. Session Descriptor:
    A brief summary of your presentation (no more than 200 words). This will be used on the website: Supporting photographs/drawn images: presenters are welcome to submit supporting images, please ensure that supporting photographs of/drawn images by children must have prior written permission from parent/guardian(s) at the point of submissions. Include 2-3 reflective questions to which participants which may refer when making decisions about participation. 
  4. Session Outcomes:

As a result of their participation, Symposium delegates will…

(ECEC; Kindergarten; School; University; Leadership; other) 

Online Symposium Format Requirements 

  • Pre-recorded videos should be 45 minutes in length and should be in MP4 format
  • We ask that you please include a personal Acknowledgement of Country to commence your pre-recorded discussion. 
  • Please ensure your presentation includes a bibliography of all published materials referenced in your work. 
  • We ask that you please conclude your pre-recorded presentations with 1-2 reflective questions to support delegates in their ongoing reflection about the content shared

Please note:

  • Any submission which aims to promote/advertise specific products, consultancies or services will not be considered for inclusion in the Symposium. 
  • Where children have been co-participants, any supporting photographs/drawn images must have prior permission for usage from parents/guardians.

Review Process and Guidelines: 

All Call for Paper proposals submitted will proceed through a blind review by REAIE Selection Panel. Papers will be selected on their relevance to: 

  • The Symposium focus of Children’s graphic languages as a tool for everyday research.   
  • The amplification or visibility of the values of the educational project of Reggio Emilia.
  • Relevance and currency to contemporary educational perspectives.

REAIE will notify all applicants of the outcome of the review process. It may be that some applications are selected for publication in the REAIE Challenge journal rather than presenting in the Symposium.  

Applications must be submitted online by 24 June 2024.

Applications received after this date will not be considered.  

PLEASE NOTE: It is essential that presentation recordings be sent to REAIE’s IT team by Monday 9 September 2024.  

One reduced registration fee per presentation will apply to all paper submission once the paper is confirmed as accepted. All presenters must be registered for the Symposium.  

DATES AND TIMELINES are subject to change, often due to circumstances beyond REAIE’s control. REAIE will aim to keep presenters notified of changes to the schedule.
