Program Description

Our meeting will be held on the land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples.

At our Canberra Girls Grammar School ELC, we have been reflecting on the intricate web of relationships that shape our educational identity. Drawing on our experiences from the Adelaide Reggio Conference and recent projects, we invite you to explore The Language of Materials—how intentional environments and carefully selected materials act as connectors between children, educators, and ideas.

This meeting coincides with our ELC Art Spectacular ‘Little Hands, Big Imagination’, with some projects from our How We Express Ourselves Unit of Inquiry remaining on display. This celebration of children’s creative expression offers a vibrant connection to the Reggio concept of the 100 Languages, making visible the diverse ways children communicate their thinking.

Together, we will reflect on confronto (constructive dialogue), considering how the dynamic interplay between curriculum expectations, educational philosophy, and daily practice can provoke deeper inquiry. Guests will be invited to engage with interactive art spaces in our Kamberri—experimenting with different materials—and enjoy relaxed classroom walk-throughs that celebrate the many languages of learning within our community.
