Thank you to everyone who joined us for your contributions and investment at our first RESearchConversation meeting on 30 March 2021.
Jess, Virginia and I were so inspired by your feedback and ideas and the validation you gave to meeting together, in the power that relationships and collaboration has in inspiring and launching us into action, transforming us personally and professionally. We also thank Caroline for opening our meeting with an Acknowledgment to Country and to the Cammeragal and Borogegal people of the Eora Nation and Elders past, present and emerging for the land that we work and play on.
At our first meeting we discussed ‘Why are we committing to come together in this research network?’ The following words and phrases in italics are a collection of our thoughts.
’To connect, converse, debate ideas, different perspectives, challenge, analyse, research, inspire and be inspired, through collaboration and open and honest sharing of ideas, to think creatively and critically with the possibilities to dig deeper’.
In looking at all our contributions from the meeting more closely, we have intentionally pulled out threads of possibilities that will add value when we are exploring more deeply together.
Building RE philosophical understanding.
Research an important tool for change.
Exposure to Reggio approach in action.
Sharing research bank, collective knowledge, explore other theorists.
Metaphors; the dance between theory and practice.
Teachers as researchers, what does this mean?
Creating a road map, becoming unstoppable, my purpose and my way.
“The who has a why, can endure how” Friedrich Nietzsche
“Active contemplation not passive reflection” Sarah Moore
Trust Building: transparency, relationship building, understanding, shared vision of success, truth and empathy.
For our next meeting we would like you to think about the following questions:
What do you take with you every day into the learning space?
What do you leave behind?
What do the children leave behind?
What questions does this raise for you?
We also offer you the following to read and reflect on before the next meeting:
Challenging conventional notions of education (how do we dance around the rules) Reconceptualising the evaluation of early childhood education: seeking answers to ‘the Reggio Emilia question’ Emeritus Professor Peter Moss article. Please click here to read.
