“We should remember that there is no creativity in the child if there is no creativity in the adult; the competent and creative child exists if there is a competent and creative adult.” – Carla Rinaldi
We invite you for an afternoon where we expand possibilities — for ourselves and the children.
This creative workshop invites educators to explore diverse ways of thinking, making, and expressing ideas. Together, we’ll stretch our imaginations, experiment with materials, and build confidence in offering rich, meaningful experiences to children.
Led by Ms. Rebekah Golsby-Smith, Assistant Producer of Learning at the Art Gallery of NSW, the afternoon will include:
In front of the art: Enquiry-based investigations that inspire wonder and dialogue
On the floor: Playful collaborative warm-ups that awaken new ways of seeing and creating
In the studio: Hands-on exploration of diverse materials designed to encourage imaginative making for both educator and student
We will leave with practical strategies to ignite imagination and exploration, renewed confidence in working with a variety of creative materials, and fresh inspiration to support the many ways children express their ideas and wonder. When we nurture our own creativity, we make space for children’s creativity to flourish — offering them a world rich with possibilities, where every idea has value and every voice can be heard.
After the workshop, if you’d like to continue the conversation, we will be gathering for drinks and nibbles at the Terrace on the Domain Bar. Please note that food and drinks will be at your own expense. Kindly indicate your interest in the comments section of your registration — we’d love to keep the creativity flowing!
