Presenter: Dr Stefania Giamminuti
Venue: Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley campus - Building 18 Room 228
Category: Network Meeting
Stefania draws on her research in collaboration with the educational project of Reggio Emilia, and Australian early learning settings, to illustrate ways in which children come to intimately know their cities, and how in turn the cities come to know the children.
This presentation is intended as a provocation for educators to view themselves as researchers of young children’s encounters with their places, to construct new understandings about children’s citizenship, and to make their research visible as a contribution to democratic conversations on children’s participation and voice.
Stefania’s current major research project, in collaboration with Reggio Children, investigates the role of the pedagogista in the educational project of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Stefania is also a member of the Council for Childhood and the City, Scuola Pablo Neruda, Reggio Emilia (Italy).
