Perth Reggio Network presents Karen Nociti, from Kalgoorlie to Italy: A Reggio Experience
Following the completion of her Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Studies, Karen moved to Kalgoorlie-Boulder to begin her teaching career. Whilst in Kalgoorlie, she had the opportunity to travel to Reggio Emilia for a five-day study tour. It was there that Karen met her now husband and after returning to Kalgoorlie it wasn’t long before she was back on the plane to return to Reggio Emilia. In the time that she lived in Reggio Emilia, Karen worked as an English teacher and nanny before taking part in an internship that was created through a collaboration between Reggio Children and Nido Scuola Choreia. Karen and her husband returned to Perth in 2008 where Karen has since worked across various age groups as an early childhood teacher and early years team leader in Catholic Education. She now teaches and mentors pre-service teachers at Edith Cowan University and is currently completing her Masters of Education by Research.
