“Every single material has to be conceived and experimented with before it is offered to children to understand the potential; what can it offer children.” (Colla, 2020)
Join us as we go on a journey to explore the language of light. A material that uniquely combines poetry, physics, and possibility. Share your experiences and help us build a South Australian context for working with light. There is a starting point for everyone – whether you are experienced at working with light and the principles of the Reggio Emilia or just starting to explore these ideas – together we can navigate the language of light.
In this meeting we will connect with Hayley Bates from Little Scientists to learn about the scientific side of light. This will allow us to build on the interest that was shown to the REAIE webinar, Encounter with Light, at our Term 1 meeting. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with an expert in the scientific and technical field that can support us in our pedagogical journey with light. It is also a chance to engage with the principles of teachers as researchers and the 100 languages.
Bring along a sense of wonder, a curious mind and a torch. The more we know about the science of light the greater the possibilities for the children we work with.
We will finish the meeting with some time in dialogue and exploration as we share stories, documentation, and resource ideas.
