The tasreggio network invites you to join us for a morning tea and tour of the Friends’ School Kindergarten and hear about a Reggio-Inspired Collaborative Project, The Power of the Birds, that was undertaken in 2023 with the Kindergarten children.
The Power of the Birds was a year-long project that emerged from the minds and hearts of the 4 year old children in 2023 in response to the death of a silvereye bird in the Kindergarten environment. The unfolding journey of how the children rose to meet this challenge, and drew on the ‘hundred languages’, tells a compelling tale. This project creates a space for dialogue about the transformative power of an education that becomes possible when we choose to listen to children’s ideas and theories, and, how seeing children as active citizens in this way, situates them as agentic participants of an ecosystem.
