Tasmania Reggio Network Meeting
Saturday 21 June 2025
10.00am – 12.00pm
The Cottage School, 4-10 Queen Street, Bellerive, TAS 7018
The Tas Reggio Network will meet on the traditional lands of the mumirimina people of nipaluna, lutruwita (Tasmania).
Join us for our first Tas Reggio Network Meeting for 2025. We will gather at The Cottage School in Bellerive, a unique and thoughtfully designed learning environment that offers a powerful alternative to conventional educational spaces. Grounded in principles of sustainability, connection to nature, and child-centred design, the school exemplifies how the physical environment can shape and support rich learning experiences.
About The Cottage School:
“Connection to place, space and the natural world is central to our school’s philosophy. The design cleverly connects indoors and outdoors through skylights, flexibility with natural lighting, windows, and the rainshower design of the verandah roof. The building is light filled and flexible, practical and aesthetic, spacious yet also cosy. It promotes connectivity and flow between areas, and is a beautiful space our students and educators simply want to be in!” – Hilary, School Leader.
Educators and participants will have the opportunity to explore the newly developed learning spaces and reflect together on the role of the Environment as the Third Teacher – supporting children’s agency, relationships, and wellbeing. Through shared dialogue and observation, we will consider how architecture, materials, and spatial design can reflect and uphold the values of respect, curiosity, and connection.
This gathering will provide space to engage with others in the network, to be inspired by the philosophy and practice of The Cottage School community, and to deepen our shared understanding of the Environment as the Third Teacher.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and shoes, as we will be exploring both indoor and outdoor spaces.
This meeting allows us the opportunity as a Network to thank the outgoing Network Convenor, Kate Newton, for her passion and leadership. We welcome Donna Seen to the Tas Reggio Network Convenor role.
