As the Perth Reggio Network continues our collective research into the pedagogy of relationships to coincide with the REAIE 2025 Conference theme, Landscapes of Collaboration, we are thrilled to have an opportunity to visit Bold Park Community School, where relationships and collaboration have been central since inception.
Bold Park Community School, operating for over 20 years, was founded by educators and families to reimagine education and have been strongly influenced by the principles of the Reggio Approach. We cater to children aged 18 months to 18 years and emphasise the importance of relationships, community connections, and playful learning.
During the meeting we will share a brief story of an emerging research into “words”. This project is connecting our imaginative students from Wembley Campus (PP, Year 1, and Year 2) with our Year 10 students from Maylands Campus, who will be bringing they younger children’s ideas and theories on ‘words’ to life. Our research explores the power of words through questions like
“Where do words come from?”
“Why do they matter so much?”
“What if we don’t have the right words?”
“Who said the first word?”
Finding the balance between embracing the vitality of children’s expressions and responses and meeting educational expectations can be challenging, but our educators embrace it and we look forward to learning from your experiences as well as we take a tour of our early years classrooms.
