The concept of connection is a thread that permeates and unifies the principles from the educational project of Reggio Emilia. An exploration of ‘connection’ invites consideration of relationality, reciprocity, community, participation and interdependence. Amid a global pandemic and escalating social and environmental crises, an emphasis on connection has never felt more pertinent: human, ecological, cultural, spiritual, environmental…
Over 2022, the REAIE Perth Network will use the conceptual thread of ‘connection’ to guide our collective research with children. As we learn alongside one another and research the concept of connection in diverse ways, we will also delve deeper into the principle of pedagogical documentation from the Reggio Emilia Approach.
We invite everyone to share their journeys with ‘connection’ and documentation this year, as we celebrate the culmination of this project and reflect on our collective research. All are welcome, even those who have not participated in the Connections project.
Along with an amazing opportunity to tour the inspiring spaces at Perth College, we will spend time perusing diverse examples of culminating documentation of projects, both from local contexts as well as from Reggio Emilia. If you have documentation from the Connections project, or any project, please bring it along to share. Together, we will consider the many roles of documentation, including as a tool for professional learning and as a strategy for advocacy.
Finally, this meeting will include an opportunity to provide feedback and input to shape our 2023 Perth Network Meetings.
If you have time, a small plate of finger food to share for supper would be welcome.
We very much look forward to seeing both existing members and new faces there!
