REAIE National Educator’s Day Statement

National Educator’s Day

National Educators’ Day acknowledges and celebrates the deep commitment of those who live, play, learn and teach alongside children. REAIE thanks educators for upholding children’s rights as citizens, and working hard to shape a future built on participation, citizenship, democracy, collaboration, respect and hope.

The Reggio Emilia Approach ® invites us to place the child at the centre of our thinking and to experience education as a culture of learning, where curiosity, relationships, dialogue, and reciprocity are intentionally cultivated. Malaguzzi reminds us that ‘education is a profession for thinking big’.

In today’s rapidly changing world, educators face growing demands, requiring skill and resilience; courage and open-mindedness; and a willingness to embrace different ways of encountering education. This is courageously demonstrated every day in classrooms and learning spaces across the country.

Reggio Australia is committed to supporting educators, through rich and diverse professional learning opportunities, that honours educator’s right to do the work that matters, offering renewal, inspiration, and connection. These opportunities spark transformational ways of thinking and practice, strengthening a shared commitment to childhood and education and creating a sense of belonging and purpose to a national educational community.

On this National Educators’ Day, we honour and thank every educator for their unwavering dedication. Your work shapes the learners of today, for now and the future.
