Two videos that are part of The Wonder of Learning exhibition, that describe a day in the Panda and Rodari Infant Toddler Centres, and a day in the Diana Preschool. These videos offer many opportunities to ‘listen critically’.

“The videos describe a day in the life of the infant toddler centre and the preschool, two stories that sometimes interweave but which have their own autonomy and identity. They focus on the everyday-ness of being together, the arrival and welcome; the stories and conversations that develop among the children and between children and adults; the strength of a way of organising that is designed but light, knowledgeable but flexible; the children’s autonomies and the adult’s construction of contexts that can support and foster them. A special care for the environment and the way of being at school, a care that soon becomes a new possible aesthetic for all the public spaces, the spaces belonging to everyone.”

“Very early on, Loris Malaguzzi encouraged us to consider school as one of the places in which the search of meaning of life and of the future could take place. In Italy, where the theoretical training is often separated from the organisation of work, the risk is always particularly high. The risk, that is, of creating a school, as Gregory Bateson said ‘that dis-informs rather than forms, because it takes away the pulse of life from things.’ This is why we should frequently examine the everyday life with a critical and lucid listening.”
