The Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE) advocates for rights, and is committed to the United Nations Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which states Indigenous people should have a say in matters that affect them.
REAIE accepts the Uluru Statement from the Heart invitation, to walk with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people and communities, whose sovereignty has never been ceded. REAIE supports a Yes vote for a First Nations Voice to Parliament, to ensure equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people and a just society for all.
Only through deep and respectful listening and actions of strategic allyship and advocacy by non-Indigenous Australians, can we move forward as a nation. It would be a powerful moment in our nation’s history to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the constitution ensuring First Nation’s People provide a First Nation perspective to parliament in matters that affect them.
“When we have power over our destiny our children will flourish. They will walk in two worlds and their culture will be a gift to their country.”
A yes vote is a step in making this precious gift a reality” (First Nations National Constitutional Convention, 2017)
