UN International Women’s Day

REAIE acknowledges International Women’s Day, (8 March), and highlights the 2024 theme, ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress”. This is a call for action, for achieving international gender equality and improved women’s well-being in all aspects of life. If we want to create prosperous economies and a secure a healthy planet, the agenda of international women’s day becomes more crucial than ever before.

REAIE acknowledges that investing in women is a human rights issue and ending poverty is essential. Since 2020, more people are living in severe poverty, largely due to the COVID pandemic and conflicts.  While some progress has been made, women continue to face significant obstacles to achieving equal participation in the economy. Without equal access to education, employment pathways, financial services and literacy, reaching gender equality remains a distant hope. We must ensure women and girls have equal opportunity to build and strengthen their capabilities, to achieve their full potential and capacity to learn, earn and lead.

This International Women’s Day, we can unite to transform challenges into opportunities and shape a better future for all.
