Term 1 meeting and special presentation

After a brief meeting we will welcome Ruth Wallbridge and Melinda Gregory who will present:

The CIRCLE Project: Building an intergenerational community

For the past 18 months, Davis St Kindergarten has been involved in an innovative intergenerational program which has had a surprising impact on children, families, residents and staff. The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework requires early childhood educators to support the children to actively engage with their local communities. Making this learning authentic and meaningful is a huge challenge for educators. Inspired by the educators of Reggio Emilia, the Davis St Kindergarten educators of the five year olds, approached a local aged care facility and embarked on a new venture where each week, the classroom relocates into an aged care facility for the first half of the day. Ruth & Melinda will share this journey and how this has impacted this everyday life in the kindergarten.
