The impulse to make marks begins early. With fingers and whatever materials are at hand – food, mud, a steamed-up window, crayons or markers – infants and young toddlers discover a relationship between their actions and the marks that appear. (Kolbe, 2001, p. 42).
Please join us to continue dialogue, sharing and thinking about the ‘Language of Mark Making’ and the possibilities it poses for our work and research with babies, toddlers and children. We invite you to bring mark making examples, materials, non-traditional equipment or tools and documentation to share as we co-construct meaning and understanding.
