LANGUAGE AND LITERACY
Early childhood is a crucial time for the development of language and literacy. Being literate is the capacity, confidence and disposition to use language in all its forms – written, oral, visual and auditory. Active listening and a strong foundation of oral language is key to ongoing and lasting literacy learning (EYLF v 2.0 P57)
The Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) data continually highlights oral language and literacy gaps in developments, it is a key focus in pedagogical teaching and outcomes.
